Langkawi - Random check it out.

Some more of Langkawi pix:

Rented a Toyota Vios when we reached there. Initially plan was not to rent any but to hire a taxi since we dun really know the driving route over there. But it turned out pretty relaxed and easy... Didn't bring my driving license so didn't drive at all. Haha lazy as well. Wt did the driving.

Our resort. Colourful and sunny. But not the staffs nor their services. Weird organisation in the room. There was two toilets (one for showering and one for doing your 'biz') and the wash basin was outside of the toilets, out in the room. Which we tot was not an bad idea if many people was sharing the room... One brushing teeth, one showering and one doing smthg else.

View from the resort.

We were supposed to go to the town 'Kuah' to get our ferry tix to Penang the day after next. But when we reached there (with all the 'got-lost-while-driving', we reached there at dinner time and missed the tix counter opening time. Ended up doing an uncompleted shopping and having our first dinner with macchicken supreme.

Too much junk and we thought we should have some healthy fruits to help in digestion!!! Constipated for many days!!!

And of course after the healthy food we should award ourselves!!

oh myyy...

Think of them I am still slurping!!!

Last but not lest, we saw this little ger who like to lick her toes with a very exploding soft toy while we were on the ferry! Check it out...

Langkawi - Cable Car

Langkawi - 24th to 26th Nov 2010

It was such a small small island. Just a couple of activities for the tourists.
Rented a Toyota Vios. Given a colourful cartoon map with only a few roads drawn across the island. Initial intention was to hire a cab to chauffer us around the island for 3 days. But we are all drivers, so why not.. And especially its a tiny island with only a few routes and traffic don't pose as a big threat over there.

Book ourselves in Awana Porto Malai Resort at the southern west tip of the island. Nice scenery. But service was not as expected, or rather I would rank it towards poor.

Weather there was too warm for us. Even for tropics animals like us. Sun was especially strong. We were not used to it. And was always sourcing for a hideout... Luckily ML and I brought our caps along. But fret not, WT and CXJ also bought their cute and gigantic summer hats from the abundance hat stores there.

Cable car expedition on the first day... Followed the cartoon map and got to our location. Drove for around half an hour. I love driving on trips. Did that when we were in Australia. Its really a free and easy thing. Own time own planning. Whereever u wanna go, and whenever. But the forgetful bunch of us (except WT) didn't bring our driving lisence with us. So WT was the driver of the trip. Thanks for the hard work.

Cable car queue was crazy. Waited almost an hour for our turn. I guess partly because its school holiday. (I wonder if people from all over the island gathers there for the cable car. The other parts of Langkawi was almost isolated...)

Finally our turn. It seems more like the roller coaster in the beginning when the car zoom along the metal structure before entering freely onto the wire rope, kinda scary and exciting. Took tonnes of photos while inside the cable car. The usual dramatic poses, ignoring the stares from the stranger neighbours in the same cabin.

Two stops.
An intermediate one overlooking the island. More photos. Swopping photographer among ourselves to capture our pictures in a few combi. @_@

And the final stop reaching to the single support bridge. And more photos again. I wonder if its the problem with engineers (yes, 3/4 of us are engineers). When we saw mega structures like this, we started to talk about it in technical terms. About how the engineers and architects come about these things, and how it was built how it was installed how it was supported, how the weight and stress and watever was maintained and how incredible and amazing they are. Boring stuffs I know. =D
Of course we still also admire the beautiful scenery (and probably think about it in the Geography way too =D). Knowledge is power, studying is cool. Crap.

More hanging around, chit chatting, discussion, photo-taking, slight trekking, and we are done and ready to head back down. On the way down, we saw the Seven Wells waterfall which we planned to trek to on the coming third day which we never did. (But at least we saw it! Self-comforting that it was not a wasted trip.)

And guess what we had for dinner?
We drove all the way (an hour) to the other side of downtown Langkawi, Kuah in hope to buy our ferry tix to Penang. But was too late. In the end we had MacDonald for dinner!!! MacDonald!!!

McChicken Supreme... In Langkawi...

The queue!

Dramatic Feng Fei Fei Hats.

Foggy. Hardly able to see where the cable cars were leading to.

Steep....

On the way down when we had the car all to our own...

7 Wells Waterfall..
